  1. I'm surprised about Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, but then I haven't seen it..
I saw Hugo on Boxing Day, had no idea what it was about before hand but thoroughly enjoyed it!

  2. I think Hugo surprised us all!<3

I didn't like Tinker Tailor because the movie hardly explained how the characters were connected and what the hell was going on =/

  3. I ended up LOVING Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. I totally agree that the plot is impossible to follow, but from a more technical perspective, HOT DAMN. Incredible use of all cinematic elements (cinematography, sound design, color, sets, etc). Amazing atmosphere; perhaps my favorite atmosphere of the year. I do wish it had been at least a little possible to follow, but, to be fair, the book's not any easier...

Can absolutely see why people would loathe it though, just like I have been loathing a few choice films that have been topping lists this year!

    ~Giovanni (Yes, that one)

  4. I will admit at first I read this and was thinking "what anonymous douche is harassing me now?" but I realized it was you and I'm all better now!

Giovanni went to film school and is my best friend. Its okay internet.

  6. What, Sherlock Holmes didn't rank for you?? Thought you had a slight obsession ... :)

  7. Keeping only the films you've seen this year in consideration, I can live with this list. Super 8 I didn't really like, probably because I missed most of the film due to the amount of lens flare. Yes, War Horse was an atrocity; only one scene can even be classified as "good".

    - Pietro (the one who hates Giovanni)

  8. ...and, no, Sherlock Holmes does not belong on any "best of 2011" list.

  9. I liked Sherlock Holmes a lot, I just thought it was rushed into production. The story wasn't that great and there was no actual detective work throughout the film.

But the acting was strong and action was entertaining. It just did not wow me enough to make my Top 5 list.
